Our drive to Chicago was largely uneventful. We saw a *lot* of abandoned barns that looked pretty cool. Roofs were caving in, half the barn walls were rotten, vines grew over them. The rest of the trip was pretty straight forward. A bunch of cornfields, lots of hills, lots of small towns. We stopped at two WalMarts in Goshen, IN to look for tents, the first one had none, the second one had a ton. Also stopped at a SamsClub to look for a tent, but came out stuffed with samples instead. In Elkhart, IN we got college-groceries: 4 apples, whole wheat bread, baby carrots.
Our arrival to Chicago was a lot more exciting. We saw views like these:

As it turns out, Chicagoans don't really follow speed limits and the default speed was 85 on a 55! This was true on the entire drive on the highway:
The view was great, unfortunately our destination was 1 more hour from there. We paid $25 to get a spot to camp at, the original was supposed to be $12 without electricity but all of those spots were taken by 9pm. It was a very crowded place, apparently Illinois had 90F weather last week and everyone came out this weekend to camp. We set up our tent:
And sat down to eat! They had free showers, bathrooms, and a water station that we had to pump to get water from.

Left the campground at 8:30, missed the 8:45 train, and finally got on the 9:45 train. Our first train ride since Hungary!
Stay tuned!
